Does it cost anything to work with a Medicare agent near you?

No. Licensed Medicare agents are paid by the insurance carriers when you enroll in a plan, and the premium is the same whether you use an agent or enroll on your own. You never pay the agent a fee.

What is the difference between a Medicare agent and a Medicare broker?

A captive agent represents one carrier. An independent agent or broker is appointed with several carriers and can compare plans across them. Most agents on MeetBrokers are independent. Ask any agent which carriers they represent.

When can I change my Medicare plan near you?

The Annual Enrollment Period runs October 15 through December 7 every year. Medicare Advantage members also get January 1 through March 31 to make one change. Your first chance is the 7-month Initial Enrollment Period around your 65th birthday, and certain life events open a Special Enrollment Period.

How do I check that an agent is licensed?

Ask for their National Producer Number (NPN) and look it up on the NIPR website or your state Department of Insurance site. Agents on MeetBrokers list their NPN on their profile, and verified profiles have had the license confirmed by our team.
